I am having reoccurring nightmares about being deferred ED, then waitlisted, and ultimately rejected D:
Just curious, how are your grades and ECs like?
Who?
Anyone! Just trying to gauge what the applicant pool is like.
Well my UW GPA is 4.0, my Weighted is around a 4.6-4.7. My EC’s are decent. It is hard to tell what they are looking for in regards to EC’s.
Penn doesn’t waitlist students who have been deferred. If you are deferred, you will either be accepted or rejected in the spring.
That would be absolutely cruel. Thanks @desie1
@desie1 Thank god they don’t waitlist even more!
Yes, Yale and Penn have the policy that deferred students will receive a final answer in the spring - no waitlist. But Harvard, Duke and others have deferred students and then waitlisted them. Can you imagine? It’s wait, wait and …wait again. Cruel!
@desie1 That would be great news. Do you have a source on that by the way? I’m just curious as to why I’ve never seen that before.
I heard admission officers say that - and I’ve NEVER heard of a deferred Penn applicant being waitlisted.
I’m getting a little worried. I submitted mine application on like the morning of November 1st so is that why I haven’t been contacted for an interview yet? I live in a major city in Canada and my friends who submitted their applications on like the 30th have already been contacted by schools like Yale and Princeton. Penn already emailed me that my info has been sent out to alum, but no reply still…
@yolomaster98 I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m applying ED, submitted everything by October 28, still haven’t gotten an interview offer. I live in central NJ within an hour of Penn so you’d think Penn alum wouldn’t be an issue for my area. Everything I’ve heard about interviews is that they really don’t matter in comparison with the rest of your application… Although I’d still love to have an interview. Good luck!
@yolomaster98 Don’t worry. There’s still another 3-4 weeks of interviewing. I submitted my application on Oct 13 and I still have not been contacted yet. And I live in Boston. It’s simply based on the efficiency of your interviewer.
Just had my interview. I am a dual degree app though
An alumni told me that, usually, students who are contacted quickly for interview are ones of high interest. Could be not true because there are some students who don’t get an interview and still get accepted. Although, an interview for Wharton is very important considering its competitiveness.
Well if that is the case, consider me overjoyed. I doubt that is the reason though. I think just living in a city populated with a lot of Penn alum is responsible
That’s not true
Penn doesn’t even read the apps before they are sent out to the alumni committee for interviews. Penn 's goal is to interview 100% of applicants this year. I can’t under why an alumni would say that!
When does Penn even start reviewing applications?
They already started.
