1) Its not alphabetical. I have friends from school who applied ED and we all got it randomly, in no alphabetical order whatsoever.

2) Its not regional. Like I said, we’re all in the same school, but we got it at different times.

3) Its not by status, as far as I can tell. There are like 2 people from my school (who I’m not that great friends with) who I’m 99% sure won’t get in (before you call me mean, they’re unhooked, sub 1900 SAT, and sub 3.5 GPA…by no means bad students, but not within range for Penn) and they got the email at different times.

first, to the best looking applicants;
second, to the most charming applicants;
third, to the wittiest applicants;
and lastly, to the most chill applicants (for obvious reasons).

Well, at least the very first part of that is true. ;)

just a thought; maybe they are sending them out in waves because they have different websites that display the results? you know so that their website doesn’t crash from the 4000+ students viewing it at 6?

no but Facebook has the bandwidth to handle 4000 people. UPenn’s website gets probably 500 visitors tops per day. I’ve heard that several college websites have crashed due to so many people checking them at once.

Don’t feel bad! Penn isn’t sending them in any particular order; just because you get an email later than someone else doesn’t mean he’s more qualified or anything. Don’t sweat it!

I got the email at 3:46 EST and my last name is near the end of the alphabet. Maybe they did reverse-alphabetical? Doubt it means anything though…
