Penn ED Deadline Extension

Originally, I wasnt planning to apply ED just EA to some colleges. But now I have changed my mind and I really like the idea of ED. I know the deadline has passed for ED. However, I know some colleges extended their deadline to accommodate students for the natural disasters, mass murders, etc. Also, I believe Columbia extended their deadline to Saturday for no reason just so people who didnt submit on time can still apply. I don’t want to apply Columbia ED becuz it is my top choice.

Did UPenn have a deadline extension as well? I think if you selected Penn ED on ur app, Penn would have sent you an email telling u if there are extensions or not.

@Desiree2 call and ask Penn and explain the situation. They will tell you if they are willing to accept your application. I have a feeling they won’t mind terribly.

I am confused though. Is Columbia your first choice? Are you gonna applying there ED?

@Penn95 oops it is not my top choice, are the office open during weekends?

I realized I made a typo, Columbia is not my top choice so that is why I am not applying Columbia ED,

@Desiree2 Ok then call the Penn admissions office and ask them. Not sure if they are open during weekends you can look up their hours. if not do it first thing Monday.

Penn might be able to help. I know residents of Texas, Cali, and Florida got an extension because of the recent natural disasters. I live in Florida (Irma hit us in Sept), and got an automatic extension to Nov. 10th through the common app without even asking for it.

It doesn’t hurt to call and ask; I’m sure that if you send all your materials, they can receive it in time. They don’t even start their in-depth application reviews till a couple weeks from now anyways.

@aneeshs17 Did you receive an email from Penn that says that residents of those places get an extension? Because i got an email from columbia saying that they extend deadline, so it is officially extended. Where did you see this info - is it offical?

They usually have some grace time, and like to have more applicants. They may accept your application if not too late. Better to call to confirm.

@Desiree2 Yes, Penn officially released a statement on their admissions website and sent an email as well. Here it is:
