Parent of a Penn RD applicant here.

We've finished the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. Penn asks for 2010 taxes as well as 2011. Do we send our 2010 taxes to Penn via snail mail now or how does it work?

Thanks.

Yup, you have to send your 2010 taxes documents and W-2’s, and when available, the 2011 tax documents and W-2’s. Two envelopes/mailings, but hey, it’s worth it!

Thanks. Would I just send it to f. aid with my son’s name and common app. number on it?

I just found this:

[Financial Aid Checklist](Submit My Documents | Penn Student Registration & Financial Services| Penn Srfs)

It looks like you don’t have to file 2010 tax forms with Penn if you’ll have 2011 taxes done before March 1st.

Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot that you were an RD applicant. ED’ers (me included) have to send both (as you can see on that table), so I was a little confused.

No Common App ID Number is required (remember–need blind, so Student Financial Services doesn’t care about common app!). But you do need a cover sheet (which I believe is also on that website).
