Anyone start a thread for results?
Did it anyways. @superangie Feel free to post your stats in the results thread!
Glad you didn’t listen to your AP Lang teacher! Why do they do that? In any event, congratulations and good luck.
@kaukauna No idea, she’s a bit frank about things like that. Thank you!
@superangie Congrats!!
@Kashallover Thank you!
I finally had my Penn interview yesterday. It lasted 45 minutes and went extremely well. The interviewer rated me as an A+ student, community member, and individual (in her 15 years interviewing she has only done this a few times before). She also wrote on the report back to Penn admssions that they should “Do Penn a favor by admitting this student”. I know the interview isn’t everything, but I am extremely satisfied with the entire experience. Penn has a great Alumni network and I am excited for notification day!
@superangie Your composite ACT score is a 35 if the individual scores you posted are correct (unless you are superscoring the individual scores or something).
So a question for those who may know…I applied as a Nursing major and in the process of looking into Penn, I found a few sources saying that Nursing applicants are notified sooner, even as early as Feb. 20 (this did come from an actual news website, not just total speculation). Others said that Penn is strict as far as the reply date of March 31st goes for all applicants. Any idea which is correct so I can tell my mom to stop asking me until March??
@letsgetlost, I’m not 100% sure, so don’t take my word for it, but I’m pretty sure there are 4 exceptions to Ivy day:[ul] [] Likely letters
[] Cornell ILR
[li] Cornell Hotel [/li]
[li] Penn Nursing[/ul]
[/li] Again, I'm not 100% sure, my advice would be to just tell your mom to stop asking you, either way :DJust had a great interview, had a lot of things in common, he seemed like he was enjoying and in the end he did say that I have done some fantastic work for an HS student. How much do you think it will matter?
^not much at all.
Thanks @jamesjunkers
@Bored1997, to clarify: It’s obviously not going to hurt you, but in reality it’s not going to do much to help you, unless you mentioned some new accomplishments which will be reported to Penn. I feel like the best thing an interview can do is show interest, and that is obviously not a huge factor in Penn admissions (though it has some effect, they still have to pay attention, somewhat, to their yield)
Just saw this article probably helpful for managing expectations
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2011-03-30/ivy-league-alumni-quit-admissions-interviews-as-success-slips
@jamesjunkers I did mention a couple of new business ideas that I am working on for the next 6 months.
@bored1997, great article… Thanks for the link.
I would point out that the article is 4 years old, so I do not know how entirely accurate it is today.
However, it is definitely true that it is not uncommon for alums who conduct interviews for any of the Ivies to disagree with the decisions that are made by the admissions office. They are honestly frustrated by the number of great students who are getting rejected, just like the applicants are. It is just that as an applicant you don’t see this discussion that happens behind the scenes.
A large purpose of alumni interviews is to satisfy the alumni; they want to feel as if they have an active role in the recruiting process of their alma mater, so colleges allow them to conduct these interviews.
@Falcon1 I posted the top scores I had between 2 ACT tests.
