I was just wondering what the process would be to double major at Penn State. I was accepted into Smeal, but am interested in double majoring for Business and Engineering. Would this be feasible, and if so, how would I be able to go about doing this? I’ve read online that some majors are controlled and are not available for concurrent majors.
@blazinamazin2023 I don’t think you can double major in Business and Engineering for exactly the reason that you listed - they are controlled and don’t allow it. For Business, many people use Economics (in Liberal Arts) as a proxy of a business major.
If your heart is set on doing that, I would speak to someone at an Accepted Student Day or do some digging in advance. Don’t want you to be disappointed.
@blazinamazin2023 , also Smeal does offer an undergrad business fundamentals certificate that allow students from other majors to gain a business credential. I think it includes the basic intro business courses so you’ll get a little bit of finance, a bit of marketing, etc.

(I wonder if this is what Smeal came up with so those premajor Smeal kids who didn’t end up with the required GPA for the major don’t walk away having wasted those courses. At least they walk away with something??? 100% speculation on my part.)
@lucyvanpelt @Sophley Thank you all for the responses! I will make sure to follow up with admissions or someone at an Accepted Student Day/campus visit.
See if you can double major with something in Earth&mineral sciences or IST.
