I’m going to penn state next year for engineering and looking for a computer. i would prefer a mac but what is the best computer for engineering
Whatever you like and can afford. If you have to do serious work with software – Solidworks, Mathematica, whatever – you can do it in the computer lab, where there are school copies of these programs.
So no disadvantages of getting a mac? @bodangles
I’m not super familiar with Macs but I don’t think there should really be any problems. If some compatibility issue comes up, you can use the computer lab or one of those things that lets you run Windows on a Mac.
The only real disadvantage of a Mac is that some engineering software (primarily SolidWorks) isn’t built for OSX/macOS. Of course this can be solved in many different ways including parallels, bootcamp, or doing any of that kind of work in a computer lab.
