So I’m deciding between two colleges: Penn State Smeal College of Business and Drexel LeBow College of Business. Penn State has a higher rank in business and known nationally. While Drexel has the co-op and the experience it offers. Penn State is in a rural area while Drexel is in Philadelphia, but the location does not matter to me. Also, just to let you know, I am in the 2+2 program for Penn State, which means for the first two years I’m at the Harrisburg campus and in the last two years, I am transferred to University Park.
Do you think it’s a good idea to go to Drexel for 4 years or 5 years for my Bachelor’s Degree, and then go to Penn State for my MBA?
Or go to Penn State for four years?
I wouldn’t plan on a MBA yet. Plans change and preferences change.
Do you or your parents have to take out loans for either?
Also, instead of starting THREE threads on the exact same subject in the exact same section, maybe try replying to posters who took time out of their day to reply to your question?
@philbegas thanks! I’m new here so I don’t know exactly how this works. I thought maybe starting a few threads would get more people to comment. I want different opinions from multiple people.
@philbegas Even though I’m only going to be an incoming freshman, I do have future plans for getting an MBA after my Bachelor’s of course. An MBA would open up more opportunities. Also, it’s kinda not my choice. My parents care about education a lot, so they want me to go to graduate school in the future. Initially, my parents wanted me to go into the field of medicine because my family is full of doctors, including my dad. So I’m taking a big risk here into going into the field of business because there are fewer jobs out there and I hear so many stories. It just makes me worried.
My parents are not taking out loans and money is not an issue for me and my family.
I’m not saying “don’t go to graduate school”. If your parents are set on paying for it then yea go all the way. All I’m saying is your preferences might change. A MBA is a professional degree that should be done after you work for a few years. And after undergraduate you might change your preferences. Maybe you’ll want to go into corporate law. Maybe you’ll want a masters in economics or finance. I’m just saying don’t box yourself in just yet.
@philbegas thanks for the advice!
