They initially gave me $9356 (3500 were from subsidized loans), yesterday I get an email saying the numbers may have changed, and now I only have 4700 given to me (with 3500 being loans). My families income didnt even go up that high this year, why did they cut so much? Im so annoyed, I get if they cut a couple thousand but they literally took almost half of my aid away. Is that normal?
I would call the Office of Student Aid. I do not know if changing someone’s financial aid is normal, but I think you need to confirm that it is correct. I say this because they made an error on my daughter’s financial aid – in our favor. Zero subsidized for my son the past four years, zero for my daughter last year, but a nice amount for just her this year.
Maybe some problems going on – worth the discussion.
Agree that you need to call them and ask. Nobody here can tell you the reason.
@bodangles @Cowman I emailed them but Im confused, apparently they took away my Federal Pell Grant but with that I never had an EFC that low to the point that I was eligible for a Pell Grant, why did they give it to me? Im not complaining but I feel like If that money wasn’t given to me in the first place (since Im not eligible for it) I wouldn’t be as caught off guard since the aid package wouldn’t have been cut down so much.

They said my one scholarship (which is, has been, and always will be $2k/year) was $9k this year. For no reason.
Really sucks that they made that mistake. At least it’s fixed now?
@bodangles I didnt get the Pell Grants back, I guess it was just a mistake they made, oh well I guess.
