Got accepted Penn State UP summer session. Unfortunately, didn’t receive any merit aid so looking to save some money and considering doing summer program remotely. Problem is that I’m still waiting to hear from other schools and what aid they will offer while summer prides may be filling up. Not sure what to do.
Sorry to hear about the lack of merit. Unfortunately Penn State isn’t known to be generous compared to other schools. I don’t know if they are doing a virtual option for summer. They have a pdf of a brochure posted that shows many of the courses have at least one in-person course. Technically you don’t need to sign up for a “pride” so you might be able to find two courses that are offered online.
One thing about PSU: you will want to remember that tuition goes up once you hit junior status so the tuition rate you see now will jump up. Stem, nursing and business majors have the biggest tuition jump, and for out of state students, it’s even larger. If the school feels unreasonably expensive now, it will only get worse. While Penn State is awesome, so are many other schools. No reason to go into big debt for a bachelor’s degree.
