Summer session?

On the application it mentions the 6 week summer session, and I dont know anything about it. Anyone who has done it or knows someone whose done it care to share? I am confused as to how much credit i get, how much it costs, pace of the classes, how many people actually do it, and will i have to do it every year?

I called PSU last week to ask some of those same questions.

  1. You only need to attend Summer Session the first Summer at the beginning of your freshman year.
  2. Most students take 6-7 credits but some take more. The idea is to “ease” into the college experience.
    3, Aprox costs (in-state) based on 2010 prices: Tuition ($4521) - Housing ($888) - Meals ($948)
I may have housing and meals reversed. I wrote down the costs but didn’t label them.

Thank you. You only have to take one of the 2 right?

naesken, there is more info here–
[LEAP: Learning Edge Academic Program, University Park](http://www.leap.psu.edu/)

Thank you that helped alot. Would I still start fall semester and do spring semester after finishing that?

Typically, yes.

If you decide to do LEAP you will start school in the Summer around the end of July. You get to move your stuff in a week earlier before the Fall semester starts. Also if you liked your summer roommate you can request to be roommates with them for the Fall/Spring semesters.

Leap is fun because there’s so much to do and the Res staff really go all out because they want to make a good impression. I remember doing Wipple Dam, Balloon Floor Wars, and Laser tag and a bunch of other fun stuff I can’t remember right now.

My classes were really fast paced too (I took 6 credits).

The summer session is a good way to meet people and get used to the campus. That way you can have a head start in the fall. The drawback is it is $6000. LEAP is an awesome way to find people to hang out.

Summer Session was really a big help and makes it easier to transition. It was a great experience and gets you ahead of everyone else starting in the fall and it was just straight up fun. I would recommend Summer Session and if you are doing Summer Sesh, I would also recommend taking a LEAP. Small 24 kid classes, 2 classes with the same kids all freshman and you get a mentor assigned to each LEAP who honestly made my summer so much better. Any Questions, feel free to message or ask.
