Hi everyone, I’ll be attending Penn State University-UP as a freshman this year. So a while back I compromised on dorm selections with a roommate and we put Pollock Halls as first choice, East as second. I had originally wanted East because I wanted to be with all freshmen, but I was okay with my roommate’s request to put Pollock because it seemed like a good balance. Now I’m nervous that I’ll be missing out on the freshman experience if we get Pollock. Can you still get that freshman experience in Pollock Halls? Also, what’s the likelihood of getting the dorm you requested/is there a chance we could still get East? Thanks!
Pollock, I’ve heard, is half “freshman experience” and half “actually being able to sleep.”
Okay, so I guess that’s what people mean when they say it’s a balance
And it’s less walking than East, which is kind of a hike from just about everything.
If you become truly unhappy, there is a “room exchange board” where you can negotiate a switch into East during the year. However, if you make friends who live in East you can go do stuff there regardless of where you live.
Yes that’s true, and I know a lot of people say that you can always come to East to visit and leave when you want but if you live there you can’t leave. Thank you!
