I’m currently a freshman at Emory…My major is most likely business. I pretty much hate it here at Emory. No sports, no school spirit, people are decent, parties are decent. Is Penn much better? Alot of my family members went to Penn and loved it but I’m a little different. I’m very social (love to party) but also do my work and have the grades and stuff.
Would I like Penn? I already turned in Part I of the transfer App. I’m a legacy and thinking about playing sprint football if I decide to go there. Any advice would be appreciated.

You should definitely come up and spend some time on campus - do an overnight, or stay the weekend. I think it's impossible to answer your question - it's different for everyone. I am applying ED to Penn, for similar reasons to you, but seriously looking at Emory. I know both schools pretty well, and chose Penn as my first choice, but think I would be very happy at Emory, too. But from what you say you are looking for, yes, I think you would like it at Penn. LOTS of school spirit, etc.

Penn works hard and plays hard. You'll love it here

mrsolom,

are there any other reasons you don't like emory besides the lack of spirit and sports? i live in atlanta, so it would make sense for me to apply to emory, but i don't really think i want to go there, mainly b/c it's too close to home. how are the professors, food, dorms?

professors - so far there pretty good. I have only 1 bad professor and i think its more the content of the class that isnt good

food - horrible. The DUC is the main cafeteria and it sucks. The machines are always broken and theres no variety. Its basically pizza and burgers everday.

dorms - Mine is very nice. I'm in hopkins hall. Many of the freshman dorms are good i'd say. Complex, Alabama, and Dobbs are great. A few are very old and some have horrible locations. One was so rundown that the kids had to move 10 minutes away to the marriot. But if you get a good dorm, your set.

ha- I sent out my emory scholars yesterday and penn ed today! good luck everyone- the end is in sight!

If you are looking for more of a social scene, Penn is the place to be. I mean come on, Emory vs. an Ivy...no contest.

And despite what a lot of folks will say on these boards about Ivies being overrated...wait 'till you get here. You'll say "To Hell" with everything else.

I was a such a nice guy before I came to Penn. Now, the arrogance and "Sense of Entitlement" turned me into an A-hole.....lol!

How dare you insinuate that we Ivy Leaguers are arrogant. I'm going to have my servant slap you.

JohnnyK: lol

Johnny knows what I'm talking about...lol
