People are Dissing USC on the UCLA board!!!

Hi everyone! The UCLA board is heartily dissing USC in more than one thread!

UCLA vs. USC

and

UCLA vs USC vs Cal vs Stanford

are both threads in which no one is defending USC! (well, it is the UCLA board) But still, Trojans! let's get in there and (... well, for lack of a better phrase and I apologize profusely for the corny-ness of it...) play some defense!

(Oy, I wish I could think of something better to say than that ;))

Spunk--as a two year plus participant on CC, and the parent of a USC student, my experience is that you need to get used to negativity on this board about USC. Most people cannot accept that it's not in a slum, it's not the University of Second Chance, it's not just for rich kids, and whatever.

Those of us associated with USC know better. Who cares what they think?

Sadly, I've learned by now that no matter what you say, no matter how many good points you make, no one will ever a) listen to you, and most especially b) believe you. While I'd love everyone to know how fabulous USC is, I guess all that matters is that WE know how amazing and lucky we are.

USC is probably the most bashed school on this board, and that really says something. If we were a school of "second choice", why would people care? Schools like UCSB, NYU, and gasp UCLA were my 2nd choice, but do I write page long rants on how much they suck? No, because I could care less.

USC is a fantastic school that takes care of their students. Only the academic elitists that obsess over admission requirements think of USC as being overrated. We provide a chance at success, a great experience, and lifelong family ties, how can you ask for more?

No, college is about academics so dont try to excuse USC's PATHETIC academics. Sure, the alumni connections may be good but theres no point if you didn't learn anything there and spent yur time building lifelong family ties.

BTW another reason y i didnt apply is becase of the application. Whats up those bar codes. It dehumanizes people.

"WE know how amazing and lucky we are."

if that isn't the mark of a stuck up and snobbish person I don't know what is. Thank you for reinforcing the USC stereotype uschika

Bah..quit whining guys. It's called a rivalry...relish it...because it fades after graduation.

If USC was a state school I would apply...but I see no reason to pay $25-30k a year when I can get just as good an education at a state school for a fraction of the cost. It's about economics more than anything else.

That being said, if it cost the same to go to USC and UCLA, and I was accepted to both, I would take UCLA.

GO BRUINS!

Not that I need to justify myself, and now that I'm becoming a hypocrite to my own post, sempitern, if it makes you feel better, I was going to type that we knew what an amazing SCHOOL we went to, and how lucky we were, but it came out wrong. And now I'll let that go, since you obviously aren't going to listen to/believe me. :)

And exilio- that's what grants are for. I wouldn't be here without them. Now I barely pay more than any other school.

Now I'll stop proving my first post correct.

its cheaper for me to go to USC than to go to uci, b/c of finaid. anywyas, i think you guys are n the wrong internet board. shouldnt you be studying for midterms? its almost second week...quarter sytem sucks , huh? have fun trying to graduate under 7 years.

and we are proud, not stuck up.

I love the qtr system..get in and get out...especially if the professor sucks.

...and midterms/finals/papers every other week. good for you.

No. No it doesn't fade at all.

Are you really that naive? Tell that to the jobless graduates.

Fair enough, that's your choice. I think UCLA is a good school, but I chose USC instead. As for your "economics" point, USC offers a lot of financial aid and students usually end up paying marginally more to attend SC.

But, to allude to an economic theory, my decision to come to SC was certainly weighted on "opportunity cost". In the end I realized that the networking, reputation, business program, affluent and prominent alumni was a greater value and larger incentive for me to be a Trojan.

There are some things that Bruins will never understand about Trojans and vice versa. Just enjoy your own school and be happy where you are.
