People at my school are saying FAFSA is due tomorrow...

Due for what though? I'm in California, and I'm assuming it's for UCs... Or perhaps some privates? I have no idea, can someone elaborate on this, I have no idea what they're talking about.

I am pretty sure the FAFSA cannot be due unless it was requested in the application. They mean the FAFSA from the previous year. You will have have to send an updated version with the proper year later on for them to update you with the correct information as they merely use the previous one to guess.

Individual colleges have different dates for FAFSA submission, so you ought to check out each school you applied to individually. I can supply dates for some if necessary; Dartmouth, University of Rochester, Pomona, and Claremont McKenna are due tomorrow of the schools I applied to.

There’s no “deadline” for the FAFSA. However many colleges have priority deadlines where you will get the best financial aid package if you apply by that date.

Every school has their own priority deadline. Some do expect it February 1st. You will need to check the deadline for each school. If even one of your schools requires it by tomorrow go ahead and do it, using estimated income figures if tax returns are not complete, and submit it for all schools. You can go in and correct income later.

If you have any questions post them in the financial aid forum where you will get accurate information, and any inaccurate information such as the post quoted below will be quickly corrected.

This is incorrect. The FAFSA from the previous year is not used for calculating this year’s financial aid at all. Schools will not even look at a previous year’s FAFSA when calculating the upcoming years aid. You have to submit the correct FAFSA (2009-2010 for school starting in the fall) if you want them to consider your application. If you submit a previous years FAFSA , such as the 2008-2009, you will not be considered to have met the deadline.
