People need to learn to use indoor voices at 2AM

I was trying to go to bed last night around 12:30, but it was damn near impossible to do so because people were talking in the hallway pretty loudly. Here's an idea: go to your room and talk!

Eventually I fell asleep and all was well till around 3AM when for some reason a whole bunch of people came back from partying and once again, were louder than a damn jet engine. My roommate included.

Do people not realize that not everybody wants to be up at 3AM? It's ridiculous.

People up at 12:30 on a Saturday!?!?! You ****ting me?!?!

I’m the same… Alot of people are noisy on my floor especially since floors are co-ed so usually it’s the girls who are usually quite loud and scream across the hallways at like 3am. Since clubs here close at 4am you usual hear a lot of noise around 4:30-5am. Not much you can really do. Outside theres a guy who plays his saxophone at like 2am just to get money from people who are wasted till like 4:30am. As he said ^ not much you can do to expect silence at really any hour on Saturday nights.

if you have a serious reason for why you need to go to bed so early, you can just tell them and im sure they will be respectful

I think 12:30 on a Saturday is kind of early, but I’m a night owl. Anyway, I used to sleep with my ipod in when people were being too loud. Problem solved for me.

Yeah I know it’s not something to expect but still. Would it kill people to not yell like they’re trying to talk to somebody while 2 feet away from the stage at a metal concert?

I should start taking ambien or something when I need to sleep. What’s annoying is that this doesn’t just happen on Saturdays. Wednesdays are the other big party night here, so we get people around 1AM yelling. And the 12:30 thing is pretty much every. single. night. Our RA never enforces quiet hours when people are yelling.

My school never has classes on Fridays so we have this Thursday Night Friday Night Saturday Night. Yeah my RA’s don’t really give a damn about enforcing quiet hours also. It pretty much sucks but as the other poster said you can always listen to your ipod and sleep.

My RA enforces them when it’s somebody watching a TV at a reasonable level. Or playing video games at a reasonable level. When it’s actually noisy, she doesn’t do ****.

least your apartment/dorm doesn’t have thin walls… even when people go into their rooms, I can still hear them talking. And when people upstairs walk… omg. It’s like the ceiling is gonna collapse, it’s sooo loud.

If people are talking loudly in the rooms next to mine, I can hear them.

I’d go outside and start kicking some ass. Or I would wake up at 7 in the morning and scream really loudly/use bullhorn. Maybe they’ll learn their lesson. Or I’d do my best to keep them awake during weekdays.

In my opinion, I highly doubt you would do that sir.

I already accidentally wake up my roommate at 10AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It really is accidental, but I don’t give a ****. I wanna work out at 10AM when the gym’s not full, or use the computer at 9AM. If he’s gonna wake me up being loud at 3AM I’ll return the favor :)

I also might be getting a bass guitar soonish. I could being practicing as soon as quiet hours are no longer in effect :P

Oh, trust me I would. If I was *ed off enough. *, I’d punch a cop in the face if I was ****ed off enough.

You people don’t know how good you have it living away from home…just be glad you don’t have little siblings climbing into your bed at 5 in the morning (it really did happen to me, this morning.)

But I’m sure if I had obnoxious people bugging me at 2 am I would be complaining just like y’all :P

lock yer door :P

My parents are crazy! They don’t let me lock it unless I’m getting dressed. Don’t know what they think I’ll be doing in there anyway. Ugh. It’s not like I have a stash of drugs in my closet or something.

Ah well, you’ll be free soon enough. You could also get a job and rent a cheap apartment, if you’ve got the time to work.

Yeah, I’m gonna see about moving out as soon as I turn 18. Free at last, free at last! :D

Here’s an idea: Ask them politely to quiet down and leave the hallways, as it’s (probably) quiet hours. Believe it or not, most people will quiet down if you ask them nicely and within reason to do so, as they’re not trying to be obnoxious. No, it doesn’t help once you’ve woken up, but it can help you get back to sleep.
