People that got into ivy leauge

A word of advice. Colleges consider your application holistically. They care about all of the components of your applicationl. Obviously, the transcript and SAT scores will be the chief components, but you must also look at how strong your involvement outside of school is and how you portray yourself in the essays. You COULD get in with those scores if you show yourself to be a strong overall person.

Some athletes may make it with lower scores (i.e., those in the range of the OP) depending on skill and sport.

It is my opinion that with a score of 2000 or under, you either need to be from a minority group that is underrepresented, have an unusual story, or have something quite unique or special that you do or are involved in on a long term basis. An average kid from an average background with a lowish GPA and a 2000 or under SAT score is likely not to be admitted to the ivies unless you fall under one of the above categories. Just my humble opinion.

future13- essays and interviews are only one piece of the pie! Your grades and scores are going to carry the most weight as it is the only single piece of information where you can for the most part be compared to your peers also applying and is some indication as to what kind of student you are over several years. A single interview or single essay is a part but not nearly a make or break component. I mean, sure a very strong candidate who is on the border might "tip" things in his or her favor by a strong interview or sensational essay but an average kid will have to come up wtih much more than that to be competitive to get admitted to the most prestigious institutions.

URMs, extremely talented musicians/athletes/orators/dramatists.

Future,
If you want to ask for chances for your "friend", please start a new thread on the correct forum: What are my Chances?

Was that really useless info? Or just stuff you didn't want to hear?

Furthermore, I suggest you don't post "your friend's" entire stats onto a PUBLIC website if you don't want people to "give you useless info"
:)

and gosh, you must be VERY close to this "friend" of yours to know so much about him :)

[Edit] Please listen to entomom
