I got an 1800 in my first attempt. Then, I got a 2230 on my second attempt. I have an unweighted gpa of 3.8 with stellar ecs and essays. Do I have a chance of getting into an ivy?
guys please reply; i am desperate
yes.
You should consider retaking the SAT. IVY’s generally require a 2300+ for Asians and 2250+ for Caucasians.
I will take one last time in october but is that 1800 going to affect my application?
no. probably not. Yale and Cornell ask for all scores, so I don’t know how they will view it.
@swimmygirl123 make that 2300+ for Caucasians as well - and still not likely to do the job!
Guys the 2250 and 2300 SAT cutoff recommendations are nonsense. Yes, you need strong test scores but in all cases the median SAT score of admitted students for all Ivy League colleges is 2255 or lower. What you do need are exceptionally strong essays and ECs that are truly impressive. I don’t think the 1800 is going to be as big an issue as how strong your essays and your 3.8 GPA. D went through the Ivy League admissions cycle this year with a 3.8 UW GPA and 36 ACT. She did not get admitted to any of the Ivy League schools
My cousin has an 1830 SAT 1 (on third attempt) and 680 math 2c and she wishes to apply for Ivies. Tuitions for SAT are not available in our country and we can’t have them online due to low internet facilities and because the cost is not affordable. Her mother language is not English so she has a hard time coping up with critical reading sections. So does she has any chance to get into an Ivy or it’s a straight rejected application?
Why did you bump this -_- make your own thread in the Chances forum. She’d better have some killer ECs and essays and a 4.0 if she’s to get in anywhere. The low CR will hurt her a lot.
Im kinda scared to even think of applying to an ivy, despite loving Columbia. I just got my november scores back,. a “meh” 740 in bio, 680 in chem, and 630 in math 1. I think ill retest, along with SAT, a 1950.
hey at @DenaliC which country are u guys for? Do u guys have a compelling story? Which currilum do u guys take? Hope is not lost, although i suggest that u research some other great unis.
@Nerdyparent blatant tr oll
@randomscreen I would consider myself a lawful good paladin rather than a “tr oll” - this paladin speaks from experience by the way… And why are people resurrecting threads from 6/2015 anyway?
@Nerdyparent lol didn’t realize that this was necro’d.
@Nerdyparent it came up under “latest” posts. Salty much?
@rerungirl ohhhh! So that’s the reason! Now I get it! Thanks!
And thanks also for teaching me a new meaning of the word salty. I looked it up on urban dictionary.
Before, I always thought it meant pertaining to sodium chloride.
Me so salty!
