I did college search on CB a while ago and found that 175 applicants got accepted to ED but only 169 enrolled. I don't know what year this was, but what happened to the other 6 people?

They got out of their ED contracts, probably for financial reasons.

Or a couple might have deferred enrollment for a year - one of my friends did.

Can you do that RD?

Yes you can. One graduate from my high school got into Rice but deferred his enrollment for 2 whole years because he wanted to go through mandatory military service in his home country so he could keep his citizenship (or something of that sort). I also know of this Mormon kid that applied this year, and I was there when he asked about deferring for a year so he could do some sort of "soul-searching" service period that every Mormon guy goes through, and the lady from Rice said yes.

Ohh that's awesome ^.^
Btw did any of you who got accepted ED check the status website after paying the enrollment deposit? I didn't get a confirmation, I payed a loong time ago and I just logged in to that website again and it brought me back to the website that asked me how I wanted to pay (as in credit card or eCheck)...do you guys get that also or is it just me?

mathnerd - I get the same thing, don't worry, I think it's normal.

Umm...I don't think that's normal. I paid my deposit about two weeks ago, and on my page, it says "Admission Status: Deposit Received."

Call them. There is a bug in the system that makes them think you will MAIL IN A CHECK even if you paid by credit card. I called admissions and they transfered me to some lady's office. I left a message explaining my situation (how the status hadn't been updated, and no confirmation) and she called me back the next day explaining everything, saying it was fixed.

Make sure your credit card was charged, and call them ASAP! (when they open again, of course)

The status should say "Deposit Received"!
