who was asked to send a mid-year report? I believe mine would be my saving grace, since my GPA seems kinda low, looking at the decisions thread (3.74 uw and 4.4 w by the end of junior year)

everyone is required to send the mid yr report

oh really?

yes that's part of the decision process
you got in without it or something?
if your record is VERRRRY good maybe they don't care
but it is part of the regular decision process

nah, I'm just a junior. I'm applying this fall

but they want to see the mid yr report only cuz they want to see if you got something below C. AT first they lied to me by saying that they consider those grades heavily but then after i got accepted they told me they just wanna see if you got D and Fs

oh, crap :(

Not everyone was asked for a midyear report. If you applied before the December 11th deadline and did not receive a presidential or trustee scholarship interview, you received a letter that said you were no longer being considered for a scholarship. In this letter it also asked for you to submit midyear grades online. Some people called about this and were told that submitting your grades was optional.

There was another letter that was sent to some people, not all, that specifically asked you to send in an official transcript with your midyear grades on it. I did not recieve this letter, and I was accepted.

And people asked to interview for presidential/trustee also weren't asked for midyear grades.

Just to confirm what cowtipper said: Sending a midyear report is NOT required unless you get a letter specifically asking for it.

so if I apply before Dec 11th (or so, whenever the deadline is this year), I'll be in the running for scholarships and I'll DEFINITELY get an interview?

no...you only get an interview if you get selected for one

Okay, so I'll get an interview if I'm selected for a scholarship? How many people are selected for scholarships and is the interview considered in admission?

Not quite. You get an interview if the admissions committee thinks you are a good candidate for a scholarship. A certain percentage of the people who interview are then granted the scholarship.

In all, there are three stages if you want a scholarship. First, you must apply by the December 11th deadline. Next, you must be selected for an interview. Finally, you must be selected among the interviewees to receive a scholarship.

Does that clarify a bit? If not, feel free to ask more questions.

Letters of admittance for those being considered for a scholarship go out before anyone is notified that they need to be interviewed. So, no, the interview is not considered for admittance.

Also, as has already been stated, some people are admitted without sending in a midyear report.

srabiee- for scholarship info- here's a good link:

The interviews with admissions are for Trustee & Presidential. The interview for Town & Gown and Alumni Club are separate interviews. The other scholarships are given without interviews. (<---I think- someone correct me if there are any other interviews.)

Does anyone know what the qualifications are for the University Scholarship and the Trojan Scholarship? I got these, but I would like to know why (i.e. grades/SAT scores, or community service, or leadership, etc)
