have people found that Georgetown has a mix of people...I don't like to categorize but I'm hoping there's a good handful of people besides jocks and preps ewww i hate saying categories like that lol it's so stupid but you know what I mean...I'm more into indie music and idk i'm not going to place myself into a category...i'm not a total "scene" girl either but how is the diversity?? i just don't want to be entering some place like my high school.

One of the things I love was that when I visited Georgetown the first time (last August), looking around, I didn't feel like I could "peg" the students. At all the colleges I visited I tried to get a feel for the general "type", but it was more of a challenge there. Granted others may have totally different opinions, but I remember thinking about that the day I was there, how they all seemed to not fit one particular mold and baffled my attempts to hole them into one category or another.

Just my opinion, but I have only been to Georgetown twice in my entire life. I'm sure others could answer better than me.

just in case anyone needed this a student at georgetown from myspace sent me this

....As for "John and Jane Hoya" as they're affectionately named, they are indeed around, but they're by no means the majority of the population. There is a major mix of people and I guarantee you'll find your niche. In case you couldn't tell, I love it here. The university is great and the city is even more amazing. If you actually get out into it, there's a ton to do in DC, including a major local music scene, which I have only just begun to dive into.

When I visited I saw a lot of really preppy people out on the front lawn sunbathing, so I could see how the stereotype developed, but walking around I saw a ton of people with other, more differentiating, styles. I mean, if you are a goth or something you will definitely stand out (I didn't see one there), but not popping your collar won't get you banned from G-town, lol. I'm sure there are a range of musical tastes and stuff just like with any other big group.

preppy kids listen to indie music too.

there are a lot of "preppy" people at Georgetown. not everyone is pretty, and you learn to love the people who are. their pastels and embroidered nautical prints will brighten your day. and they really put the spring in springtime.

and I am only half joking.
