Anybody out there considering transferring to Pepperdine for this Fall of 2009? I've been accepted, but I'm just wondering if anyone else is interested, and possibly concerned about how many credits they might be able to transfer to Pepperdine. Anybody else out there?! It's an amazing school, so I pretty excited about going there if I don't get into my first choice school. I've been at a community college for 3 years, and I'm wondering if there's anyone else out there in a similar situation.

Same situation as you - I’m a business major. Pepperdine was the backups backup. I was at a CC for 3 years. I’ve heard grea things about the school - I just don’t believe it’s worth the price tag.

Yo jcsberger, it is really expensive that’s true, but I think that they give decent financial aid and for me it’s worth it because the professors are so good and so is the student body. And then there’s the location, oh my. Where else are you considering?

i went to a UC for one year, and Im thinking about it too. Is it worth going for full tuition? My top choice is USC

I’d have to go for full tuition. Yes, it’s a pretty campus and from what I hear the people are very nice - but the school doesn’t carry much of a name outside of the immediate area. Some of the other schools I applied to include USC, UCB (Haas), Georgetown, NYU, etc. Same price tag for a little more bang. I might end up there but I’m waiting to see if I get a better offer. Oh, and did you get that packet in the mail today with the certificate? It said class of 2013 (I think they forgot to change the date for the transfers).

Naww I didn’t get any packet yet, but I was wondering about specialized information for transfers (I haven’t really seen any yet) as far as what class we would be entering into and what not. I am also a little worried about how many units I would be able to transfer in, but whatever, I’ll find out soon enough. I’m also applying to some bigger, more reputable schools, but Pepperdine is personable and very strong academically and I’m a sucker for beautiful beaches and awesome surf. Plus, I’m more conservative and Christian so I’d fit in real quick I’m sure, so that’s why for me I’m pretty sure it will be worth the money. Pepperdine just seems to be a great fit, if I don’t get into my dream school. But Pepperdine has alot to offer, and in my opinion it’s totally worth its price tag. I can’t say the same about USC, except for it being a slightly more reknowned school.

I am a conservative christian as well. What’s your major and where did what CC did you go to?

I’m an economics major from the San Francisco bay area, and I’m finishing up my last semester at Chabot College in Hayward. What’s yours and what CC are you from?

Business major from Pasadena CC. It’s about 45 mins from Pepperdine. Everyone I know that have gone (or goes) there have liked it. Best of luck if you do go there.

Hi, I don’t mean to sound ignorant but I’ve been doing some research on Pepperdine as well. I would hope to transfer after a year…but it can’t be a strictly christian admission thing can it? Seems to me that, the christian faith plays a large role in the school does it do the same in admissions? and…what if you are of another faith? I never thought religion would play a role on this…but is it that important?

I think it helps if you’re Christian, but I do know for a fact that there are plenty of non-Christians at Pepperdine. I have a feeling that it played a role in my acceptance, but I’m not sure how BIG of a role, if you know what I mean. You know what might be informative would be to try and contact a non-Christian at Pepperdine and see what they did to get in. But as for how much of a role it plays, my guess would be that it is significant from what I’ve read and heard, but then again there are acceptions. Another idea would be to just read about the school, and what their mission is. You can actually take alot from those sources I’ve found, and surprisingly many prospective students overlook them. I hope that helps!
