I know this is long but we need to get the ball rolling again. I'm Chris from New Mexico USA for you who don't know where NM is. well I have perfect attendance k-13 and my older brother also has graduated with perfect attendance. and have a younger sister that is soon going to be graduating with perfect attendance.

First of all it was hard. I mean we all say it was easy all you have to do is get up and go to school, isn't that easy. but for me it was hard I hated school and I really didn't want go someday's. but its like I had nothing to do if I stood home I would have had to make up work the next day. so what was the use.

truthfully I wish their was a scholarship. I know of schools that gave away cars to kids that only had good attendance for their senior year. I mean I got 13 years and nothing. well I got a paper from the school saying 13 years of good attendance, but a paper big deal 13 years just for a paper. my parents have went out of their way to make this a awardable achievement. and they got the mayor involved and I had received a proclamation. but nothing from the school except the paper. at least i got something but im still unhappy with a paper. I am now trying to get recognition for this big achievement bc I think something needs to be done. it might be to late for me and my brother to get a reward but, I will work hard for my sister.

when I graduated I was disappointed, so I'm not going to let my sister feel the same way. something needs to be done here.

how can people NOT skip school. I just got home from Saturday School for making up absences. And we get 10 free absences per class per semester. Thanks to my lack of alarm clock, Brooklyn Bagels and my "extended lunches" (skipping my 4th hour), my 1st hour teacher barely even knows my name. And I'm still top 10, with a 3.98uw gpa and a lot of cinnamon raison bagels on weekday mornings.

While it may seem on the surface that there should be an award, imagine the pressure that some kids would feel to keep going."Well I have the flu, but it my senior year I really want that scholarship so I'll go in anyway." Just seems like it would be an invitation for trouble.

you’re just angry because you had to take a “sick day” to finish you school work that you were to lazy or stupid to get done. you have NO idea how hard it is to go to school when you know you have the option of taking a personal day and just not going.

It’s pretty sad that a public health official would call a kid with perfect attendance sick. I guess my kid is sick because he is a responsible kid who has never skipped school.

Congratulations to the rest of you who have had perfect attendance. You will go far in life because of your commitment to doing the right thing.

I am current senior in Steinert High School in Hamilton, NJ. My name is Alexa Beyer and I have been present in school everyday since kindergarten. I have been working 13 years of my life to achieve perfect attendance and I now have only 2 short months left. Affording higher education is not easy at all. I am a student who works extremely hard and dedicates so much time to my school work. I would be so greatful to recieve any form of scholarship for my achievement in perfect attendance. It would be very helpful in helping fund my higher education years.

This thread is really old. Anyway I have perfect attendance through out high school. Its not hard to not get sick during high school. Around when your in high school I believe most people’s immune systems are build up (as long as you take care of yourself). Any current scholarships for MD?

Apparently perfect attendance does not hone one’s research skills…if such a scholarship exists it will surely be listed by fastweb or one of the other major scholarship search sites. Oddly, there seems to be some colleges that give their students small awards for perfect attendance…but they seem to be $100 or so, around the same amount that our HS gives on senior awards night.

I’m sure some of you have amazing immune systems. Unfortunately, the “perfect attendance” kids I’ve known personally have only achieved this by going to school for an hour even when they’re clearly ill (and likely contagious). So not worth it! But congrats on your accomplishment.
