Hey,
I got (almost positive) a perfect score on writing multiple choice and, due to unforeseen circumstances about an 8 on the essay, give or take a point. Is it possible to pull a 780-790 in the situation described above?
Thanks.

760-780
If you got a 9 on the essay, 800 is possible. If you got an 8, then @ueutyi is correct.
If you received a 9 on the essay an 800 is possible (assuming MC:80)…Anything lower than 9 =760-790 (my guess)
I’ve heard that many colleges don’t put a strong emphasis on the writing (especially essay). So even if you get a 760 (still a great score) I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Unless maybe you’re compensating for another section.
Last november, I got a perfect score on MC and an 8 on the essay (which was a perfect essay according to my teachers, by the way), and got only a 710. So it really depends on the seating, I believe.
How common is a 10 essay and -1 MC=800?
@JuicyMango I had that on the Dec SAT and I got an 800. Collegepanda gives a 19% chance (so better than average curve).
@loquatical Oh great, thanks! And do you know if CB has different curves for different essay prompts? Do they take into account the difficulty of different essay prompts?
@JuicyMango Yes, though the variations are very slight.
