Perfect Uni for me????

Im taking a year abroad in the U.S (I study in England) but i dont have a clue where to go!

Majors: American studies/history and film

weather: Hot and sunny and cold and windy i really dont care

Atmosphere: Partyyyyyyyyyy atmosphere and laid back BUT also has a good rep and isnt a crappy....I enjoy watching sports but im not really good at them though so not a REALLY sporty uni....

Cost: Quite a cheap cost of living etc etc as its costing a bomb just to get to the U.S anyways!

any help would be much appreciated!

USC matches a couple of the things you mentioned perfectly. It's considered top notch, but definitely easier to get into than harvard, yale, etc. Has a top 2 or 3 film program, and is one of the very best football teams. definitely good for parties. don't know about cost of living in LA, though. Probably a little steep, since it's a city.

so far i have University of:

Santa barbara
San Diego
Washington (Seattle)
Texas (Austin)
Miami, Coral Gables
Michigan, ann abor
Rochester

These are ones i have circled and am going to further research...any of those you see and think "DONT GO THERE"???

they all look solid to me, although alot of those schools are very different, lol, rochester being one that really doesn't fit in with the rest

Remember that University of Texas austin is very competitive for out of state....University of Wisconsin has a huge party scene and very good academics,,,

awesome!

well i'll boot rochester then and put texas as 5th on my list! (i have 5 choices)

i want to put Miami first but im not sure if its a good uni/got good party scene?

If your considering the University of Miami, then you should also consider the University of Florida. It has the best of all things: academics, school spirit, parties, etc...

i dont have university of florida on my list im afraid...what about miami

It's a very good school, that is not far from South Beach (which probably has some of the best looking people on the planet). Athletics are very strong, and the social scene is great.

definitely check out michigan... it really is awesome here and sounds just like what you want

awesome guys, your really good help!!!!

right so i think its a flip between michigan and miami!

i think i may put seattle as 5th choice, texas as 4th, california (davis/santa barbara/san diego as 3rd and the other 2...i just dont know!!!!!!!

any more tips?

i will be 20 when im there aswell so maybe somewhere which is lenient when it comes to fake ID's/good house party scenes hahaha

cheers again guys

Just remember that the cost of living in Miami or LA is more than steep (like a cliff, really).

admission to michigan is going to be much more difficult than miami, haha they are such opposite cultures too

USC is much more of a match to your description than some of the schools on your list.

what do you mean by miami and michigan are such oppoisite cultures?
