What do you guys think????

Right, since my last post got deleted i shall post it again!

Basically im an English student who is about to study a year abroad in America. I'm doing American studies and film degree and im looking for a Uni that is laid back and fun BUT also has a good academic reputation. My choices (in preference order) are as follows:

University of Miami
University of Michigan
University of Santa Barbara
University of Georgia
University of Washington, Seattle

Now i think these choices are pretty safe HOWEVER i'm very worried about places like Miami as i feel i wont be able to party etc and have a good time because i wont be 21 years old (I'll be 20) and as a result i wont be able to go clubbing etc with all the people who go off campus. I'm also worried because i read up about Seattle and apparently the Uni is pretty lame and doesnt have much house parties which is what i live for hahaha

Any reassurance on this issue would be good guys...also i was wondering how english people are recieved in U.S uni's???

Cheers

Definately Miami or Santa Barbara; nothing beats being on the coast, especially with such great beaches as Cali. & South Beach. I'd know, I lived in Miami Beach for 12 years, so it's definately a great place to spend a year. You'l have something to do at all times, gauranteed. Word of advice: pick up on some spanish, it'l do you wonders. I've got several friends at UM, & while steep (lots of $), they're having great times.

With regards to the other places, frankly, they don't have anywhere near the diversity, &, if I was in your place studying abroad, I'd want to make the most of my stay & not be confined to the typical 'american-style' college-experience.

Go to UC Santa Barbara if you want to have a great time and get a good education.

Bring some condoms because a third of the grils have STDS ;)

I don't think the disease at SB discriminates. They're all filthy, guys and girls alike.*

That said, I again emphasize the following: Go to SB.

*Here's a pre-emptive J to the K for all of the SB kids who are so eager to defend the school's level of hygiene. It's a joke kids. Perpetuating stereotypes is teh fun.

A friend of mine goes to UCSB and he entered some two-week program before school started and they told him that a third of the girls having STDs is just a myth.

santa barbara sounds awesome but what about my other choices?

I say UCSB or Miami as well. And you being British=+10

If you are even decently attractive, girls will be ALL over you honey. Don't even worry about it. They will be asking you to say British things, and basically just wanting to get into your pants. Trust me on this. The American boys may be a little jealous though ;)

University of Georgia... Southern ('nuff said)
University of Washington, Seattle... rainy
University of Miami...good
University of Michigan...academic and cold, but maybe that's what you're going for
University of Santa Barbara...germ riddled but generally attractive

TOTK, i don't think ur smart enough to get into Umich!!! LOL!

its really hard to get into. You need to have all A's.

He's doing a semester abroad. It's not the same kind of application process.

Off topic, but ya a Scouser by any chance??

yeah he's a scouser.

A scouser? o.O

...a what?

A scouser is someone from Liverpool. (It comes from Scouse, a dialect of Liverpool.)

It's a mocking insult in England, especially for Manchester United fans.
