perhaps a dumb question, but humor me.

I've been a community college student for the past two years, so I'm used to paying for classes per unit.
At UCR, does the tuition fees cover the classes you plan to register for?

I think the tuition costs stay the same regardless of what classes you sign up for. But with one exception, I think for certain classes (like chemistry lab), where you use lots of materials in class, they give an extra fee. But generally tuition stays the same

under 12 units = part time and reduced tuition

above 12 units = full time and full time tuition is charged.

So basically, you could be taking 18 units and be paying the same as someone who is taking 12. More than 18 requires a signature (at least for engineers).

Summer school is a different story though, you pay per unit and I think it’s like $200-250 per unit :</p>

wt f might as well go to a community college for summer school. $20 vs $200! O_O
