Personal Essay Vs. Politcally Incorrect

i have a question about one of the sentences i have in my essay.
my essay is about going to governor's school for the sciences and i started the second paragraph saying what my expectiations were of the school...

is this okay to write or is it politically incorrect/discriminatory:

"I will honestly admit, before attending PGSS, I was reluctant to spend my last summer before senior year with a bunch of mostly Asian math nerds who lived for reprogramming computers and calculus jokes."

leave the "asian" stereotype out of it, and it should be fine. it already sounds punchy enough without adding in the racial issue.
