Hi,
I'm filling out my application and I don't really understand what they're looking for in the personal statement...is this supposed to be something like "i'm responsible, hard-working, enthusiastic...etc." or is it supposed to be a totally random thing that you make up yourself? For example, I've written the common app essay about the most significant event in your life, or something like that. is that something that i could then just use for the personal statement, like a make up your own question type thing? or is it more about telling why you want to go to the school or something? thanks!

From the website>>>>>>>>>>>>

We do not require a particular topic for the Personal Statement. We allow applicants to decide what the committee still needs to know in order to accurately evaluate their application. Please do not repeat information that can be found in the application. This space is provided to help the committee get to know the applicant better. We encourage students to be creative and have fun with it! Please know that the committee will consider content and grammar as well as spelling. Personal Statements should be no longer than 500 words.

ahhh okay thank you so much! guess I didn’t see that on the website!

Best of luck, It is a great school, my son is a JMU senior! Gonna miss it!
