Personality Type?

Extroverted, but I definitely need time by myself (at least an hour or so daily).

Introverted for sure.

Sorry to interrupt your discussion, but this is a topic I wish had been written about long ago. Spend some time reading about the characteristics of introversion and extroversion. Some are commenting about only one aspect of the differences so I’m not sure if they only know the superficial definitions. It is helpful to know how you are energized- by being with people-any type, strangers or friends- or needing downtime alone before being active with your close friends.

You may have the “aha” moment when you read about characteristics of the introversion/extroversion spectrum. One book is “The Introvert Advantage”. As an extroverted parent it really would have helped me with my introverted son while he was growing up. As college students it will help you better understand yourself and the others around you.

Interesting facts (from lectures and reading). 75% of the population is extroverted (remember there are degrees- not an all-or-none- phenomenon) while 75% of the highly gifted are introverted. This does NOT mean you are highly intelligent if you are introverted. It does mean your teachers from K through HS most likely were extroverted (there are exceptions- an introverted teacher gave the lecture at a parents/teachers GT conference) and may not have realized the differences from them for the minority. The kid who takes forever to make his comment in class- but it was worth the wait (first grade teacher comment about son). Neighbor who noticed son quietly observing kids before joining in. Kid who never wanted to talk about his day when he arrived home… The ability to think and talk at the same time (not the introverted).

Kudos to those who differentiate shyness from introversion. Knowing about the personality driving forces will help you relate to more people- even a future spouse. A lot easier when you understand why someone doesn’t react to life like you do- it is not a character flaw to be of either type, just a difference as are physical characteristics.

I’m a definite extrovert. I honestly can’t stand being by myself for a long time, so I’ll either have to text one of my friends, go on Facebook and talk to friends, or make plans and go to Starbucks lol.

Both =)

10char

I am definitely Introverted. Being around too many people for too long simply tires me out. Why talk to people if you can sit lost in thought?

Also, according to Myers-Briggs tests (if you believe they’re accurate), I’m an INTJ, with all of my traits but J being almost as extreme as possible.

I’m probably close to the border between Introverted and Extraverted, learning more towards Extraversion than the former.
My Myers-Brigg type is usually ENTP: Extraverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Planning, sometimes being INTP, INTJ, or ENTJ.
I don’t really mind being the center of attention unless it causes me humiliation, and I do like socializing a lot. Otherwise I get bored.

Addition: Wow, it seems like INTJ is ubiquitous on CC. I wonder why. :P

INTP describes me almost perfectly. I have an easy time bringing out the E if needed, but my “true” form is definitely I.

Also- I’m very empathetic (which is an F trait), but I’m also very rational and objective in my actions. Is that weird? The T does, however, win by quite a margin over the F.

Interesting to see almost straight J here- though it makes sense; if you’re on here, you’re likely a planning type of person. Oddly, I’m a very strong P. I get in those “planning moods” which mostly involve imagining and loosely setting up the future. I’m terrible at practical planning and a huge procrastinator; I “go with the flow” a lot.

I’m a ISTJ.

If you don’t know what that is, google it.

I’m introverted with strangers and on my “down time”, which is the time I spend reading, thinking, staring into space. I’m only extroverted during hours SPECIFICALLY dedicated to socializing, for example gatherings, parties, appointments, etc. Other than that if you catch me writing or reading or spacing out (usually indicates heavy thinking) or generally alone with a faraway look, it is advised to stay silent and avert your eyes. I “extrovert-hard”, but I introvert harder. I’m practically like Henry David Thoreau when I introvert. I’m the nuclear bomb if disturbed during my own time.

Like many on here, I’m an INTJ girl with an ENTP socializing persona. Yes, I can be pretty wild.

“Introverted until I’m on stage.”

This too. And since we’re going by Myers-Briggs, I’m an INFP. I’ve taken the test five times, and get the same result everytime:)

I’m an ENTJ

oh, im an INFP too im not that introverted tho. 50% of the time I get ENFP. its right down the middle.

Going by Myers Briggs, I’m ISFJ but I can sometimes be ESFJ.

Introverted
