Personalized Financial Aid Email

This week I received an email from an assistant FA director at Yale’s financial aid office. They asked me for more information (I think there was something ambiguous in my CSS profile). It was very specific to me, and clear that it isn’t one of those generic reminders.

They started off the email with “I am reviewing your financial aid application but I need _____”. Also, my SID - I think it would be my Yale ID number - was in the subject of the email along with my name. Does anybody know if this means anything regarding admission?

Means the FA folks are reviewing your finaid app. No more, no less. They don’t wait for the last minute, it happens throughout first quarter.

Do they read everyone’s FA application, even those who might be potentially rejected? I’m just confused as to how they sift through thousands of apps. Did anybody else have a similar situation?

@bulldawgs , I’m not familiar with the processing, but remember that something like half of applicants don’t apply for FA.
