I just got a letter from my admissions officer today - a short typed congratulatory note, but she added "Congratulations [name]!" and signed it, which made me feel slightly special. (But only slightly... haha... I guess more important applicants - recruited athletes, world-class musicians, Intel winners, etc - get a long, handwritten plea to attend? ;))

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else got this. It brightened my day. =)

Stanford actually sends a personalized handwritten note to all acceptees that specifically addresses some aspect of the applicant's essays. I'm in no way trying to slight harvard, but I just wanted to throw that information out there.

Ihope - I actually saw that thread on the Stanford forum and felt a little jealous. ;) But I'm not basing a college decision on a remark on my essays, so it's okay.

My daughter got a nice handwritten note at the bottom of the Harvard letter. It was written by her area admissions guy and mentioned how he liked her arts submission.

Mine had a handwritten message from my admissions officer, saying she hoped I'd come in April and that ND always needs more representatives...I think what/how much they write depends on how nice they feel at the time and/or how bad a writer's cramp they have from sending out all these letters. Considering how ridiculously busy they must be, it's a nice gesture. Made me smile =)

i got mine too! i didnt know we had the opportunity to meet them when we go up for prefrosh...thats actually really cool. but what would you say to them..."hi i LOVE you." lol

My handwritten note was almost a paragraph talking about how she was excited to have more public school students from New Hampshire coming, but I had personally met her previously, so that might explain why it was kinda long.

I've only received the email so far.
I've been ACCEPTED but the email heading is just Your Application to Harvard. It sounded like a rejection letter. Scary!
