I'm a bit confused about unweighted and weighted gpa + class rigor. Everyone says take the hardest classes and some B's won't matter, but what is the point that B's do matter even with hard classes? Which situation would be better for me in long-run in plannin my class schedule:

GPA: 3.86 UW
Rank: 1 (W gpa)

of terms of APs : 28

Grades: 7 Bs, rest As

OR

GPA: 3.94 UW

of terms of APs : 24

Rank: 3 (W gpa)
Grades: 2 Bs, rest As

At the end of the day, none of this sh** matters. but just for kicks.

well actually this is basically the data from my current year’s graduating class, so take it as it is ahaha. unfortunately none of em have got college decisions yet so i cant really tell which road is better.

obviously the class rigor of the first one is better, but then again there are a lot more Bs in the first one…

This is a tough one. I’d have to say the second case is better just because the first case has too many B’s to be stable. Even if he/she is Ranked higher, colleges do take into account unweighted GPA, and they can tell that this student was struggling with the tough course load. The second case is also taking a tough course load (not as tough as first), but took much less Bs, so it is easy to tell he/she is more comfortable even with a tough load.
