petitioned for more units - lower gpa

hey. i'm a freshman (double major) and i petitioned for 24 units for the spring quarter and got them. i had a 3.89 gpa fall quarter, but then i took a brutal linguistics GE and my gpa for winter is below a 3.0 (although my overall is above a 3.0)

are they going to automatically drop one of my 5 classes? should i just do it myself? or can i still stay enrolled in 5 classes? i'm in arts and architecture, i'm not entirely sure if that's relevant

wow how did you get more units? i asked for more (in murphey) and they sent me away X_X

i wouldn’t drop a class JUST because you had bad luck with one class last quarter. i’ve taken 5 classes before and done well. if its classes u think u can handle then go for it. its worth it in the long run.

Ghosties isn’t say that he/she wants to drop a class. They are referring to the standards you have to attain to be able to take extra units. I’m not sure what they will do here, you should probably talk to them… or you could wait until they make you drop a class.

ghosties: no, they are definitely not going to drop your extra units. but you should reconsider whether or not you’ll be able to handle it. :)

BeanTheDean are you sure? i know they mentioned something about going through the list of student with extra units and doing something if the gpa was under the required, but i mean i had to go in twice to get the extra units because they forgot about me the first time so they don’t seem all that organized. i’m pretty sure i can handle it, i’m only taking classes that i’m interested in, not any GEs just for the sake of meeting a requirement. but thanks!
