Petroleum Engineering transfer /possible other field

Hi I really need advice on this decision. I am currently enrolled in a college were i have completed 2 years of college course work about 60 credits. my overall goal is to become a petroleum engineer. I live in massachusetts so my options at the moment are to transfer to a school here where i can study a different engineering path. such as civil chem or mechanical, to get a bachelors and then apply to a masters program. Or I can Apply to an out of state school and complete it there. I would prefer to stay here because i just came back from a different state. my question is If i were to go with the first option, What would be the best engineering path to go in to and be able to get in to a petroleum engineering career with a masters there after. What would my chances be with applying in to the oil industry and getting a job in different sector of this line of work. I really need to decide what my best options are for my engineering path.

Thanks
