Pets in the dorms at Cornell?

Ill be staying in either balch or Dickson. In a single. I'm really hoping to get either a rat or a gerbil to have some company. Do you think I can pull this off? What's the punishment for getting caught with a pet?
Also is Dickson or balch better for hiding a pet in?

Neither pet is allowed anywhere except in the Ecology House.

In case you are curious about Cornell Housing’s house rules, here are this year’s (probably similar to next year’s): <a href=“Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University;

Disciplinary info about violations is included at the beginning of the house rules.

Try a fish.

Rats and gerbils will not be welcome – and they smell. While rats can make good pets in the right situation, the dorm is not one of them.

(I own a pet shop and would not sell a small mammal into a dorm living situation. Think fish. Preferably betta.)

Seriously, you know it’s against the rules and yet you want to try it anyway?

If you’re lucky, you’ll get a warning and possibly a Judicial Administration review. If you’re not lucky, they will kick you out of the dorm.

You are allowed to have a fish tank in any dorm. I have a fish tank in my room and I passed the room inspection.
