Good luck to your daughter :)

Good luck to you and your D. Tell us when you hear something. :)

At this point, do they notify transfer students via phone or mail?

baristagirl, she was told at her interview that she would be notified in writing by June 1st.

oh. good luck to your daughter :)

I'm still waiting :)

Also, the reason why I ask is because most transfer got notified via phone

At this point, do they notify transfer students via phone or mail?]]

Phone first, if nothing has changed. Accepting students from the waitlist isn’t similar to regular admission.
If they need 5 students, admission really has no way of knowing from yr. to yr. how many notifications to send out to give them the correct yield. They also don’t want to wait for snail mail and possibly lose a great student. Mailing numerous waitlist acceptances also runs the risk of oversubscribing the class and not having enough beds or have to make singles into doubles. It’s happened. The worse yrs, I believe, were 2001 and 2002, after 9/11. As many jr’s as expected didn’t go abroad-- Israel was taken off the study abroad list, but after a great deal of lobbying by Israel, they’re back on—consequently, the beds that should have been open for entering 1st yrs weren’t.

Oh really? Even for 2nd cycle transfer applications? Unsoccermom mentioned that they told her daughter at the interview that they would notify people by mail. I was also told this when I asked.

I'm so sorry, I was speaking about waitlist students.
I was talking with a student about that issue and had it on my mind.

I was notified via phone and received the letter a couple of days later. But this was at the end of March. Are they still making transfer decisions?

uhuh...they had a non-priority deadline and some people did it during then.

Phone call from Smith came this morning. She's in and couldn't be happier.

Congratulations to your daughter. May her years at Smith be terrific.

What were your D's stats?
Do the call everyone who's been accepted the same day?

Congratulations to your D, un-soccermom!

Unforgiven, I really don't know what Smith's usual practice is as it relates to notification. My daughter's stats were in Smith's mid-range; but her essay was excellent and she also submitted a research paper from this past term that was quite well done. I think that is what got her in to Smith, but I don't know for sure.

Thanks. A friend of mine also applied for the non-priority deadline and didn't get the call today and is worried that she didn't get in.
