Hi, i received a letter indicating that my daughter is eligible to join Phi Eta Sigma - a National Honor Society at Pittsburgh. I could not find a great deal of information on this organization. Is any one out there a member. Is it worth joining. what do you do etc. etc. thanks

Have not heard of that one. Is it for a particular major?

the letter says it is a national honor society… open to freshmen with a min GPA of 3.5… they do some volunteering, committee work and social activities. I googled and found the PITT website but it has absolutely no useful information… maybe it’s a new organization???

Phi Eta Sigma was an active honorary at Pitt when I was a freshman at Pitt 35 years ago. Members provided free tutoring to fellow students- my specialties were calculus and physics :)

phi eta sigma is just an honor society, they offer scholarships, some chapters are active in the community, some have a lot of social events, some don’t. a lot of members just see it as something you can put in your resume and be done with it, but there can be opportunities to actually get involved!
