Philadelphia Fire

Anyone read it? Anyone planning on reading it? I’ve bought a copy…but that is where my good intentions have stopped.

i've read 3/4 of it, it's not bad.

I had a goal to read 15 books this summer. Guess how many I've read?

None.

It would have been nice if they sent an email about it more than 10 days before we're supposed to have read it. I don't have time now, but had I known earlier, I would have.

Can anyone whose read it summarise what's its about??

Anyone else just totally disregarding this?

Uh...me...but I don't what to seem like a total retard at the discussion...so that's why I asked if anyone can summarise what the book's about.

I got a letter from Brown over a month ago about the book. But essentially it is about the bombing of a black church in west philly and how, I forget the exact numbers, 11 people died and like 60 houses burned down b/c the philly fire dept and police dept, at least heavily implied by John Wideman, did not help put out the fire because of various strings of racism and other issues with the actual church.

Cool, thanks. I never got that letter. Is the book fiction or non-fiction??

historical fiction

and i believe brownsurfer is a little of, I believe a building on Osage Ave in Philly was firebombed by the police because a back to Africa cult was stationed there, 11 people were confirmed dead, but many suspect more were killed in the flames. Cudjoe, the protaganist is writing a book about the fire and the events surrounding it, he is in search of Simba, a boy who was seen running from the fire.

my bad. ten characters.... :)
