Hello, I am an eighth grader looking to get into Phillips Academy. Are there a certain number of points that I would need to achieve in the SSAT test to be accepted? I know that the administrators do not only look at SSAT scores but also your personality and athletic ability.
Here are some things I think I will include in my “resume”; (ooh yay I get to brag ab myself hehe ?)
I have had my eye on PA since the 6th grade, I love how intellectually diverse the students are and the all-around competitive-but-encouraging environment is at the campus (is it even called a campus…? idk).
I have all As and A+s in my current school subjects, I am in all of the available honors classes in my charter middle school (just math and science lol).
I am enthusiastic and self-driven. I was a student council class representative in seventh grade, and I am the student body president in eighth grade.
As a competitive swimmer, I know what it feels like to work tediously for a long time with no drastic progress. I know how to handle frustration, but I never let it deter me in wanting to improve myself in strength and technique, reaching for my goals and seeing myself coming closer to them slowly but surely.
I had the privilege of working with the American Humane Association in my graduating year of middle school, helping raise donations and awareness for animal abuse prevention awareness.
I play the piano and I love to draw.
My passions include sports (specifically swimming), arts, music, writing and debate. I think I am keen and observant, although I can get distracted easily and don’t often find myself planning what I want to do next. I think I am decent at reading people and my best subject is English.
Phew that was a bunch but I think I’ll go now. Tell me if u think this meets some-most of their expectations for administrating students!! ty and gn.
I would say you certainly have the merit to be admitted. However, they first need to know that you are a nice person; Kindness is key to Andover’s culture, and they need you to be nice as well.
Solid SSAT scores are important as well as letters of recommendation that speak to your character. If you haven’t reached out to the swim coach please do so. How do your times compare to those placing at NEPSAC championships? What other sports are you interested in? Having the extra support from coaches for your candidacy will only help. Best of luck.
