I am scheduled to do a Skype Interview with Phillips Academy sometime this week and I am a bit nervous. I want to prepare for the interview, so I’m wondering what are some of the interview questions that the interviewer will ask.
- What made you apply to boarding school, and specifically Andover?
- What are some of your hobbies?(i.e. Sports, the arts, community service, etc.)
- What are some of your strengths and weakness' academically?
- How would your friends describe you/ how would you describe yourself?
- What do you want in a boarding school and what do you hope to get out of coming to a boarding school?
These are just a few and there are also TONS of other threads that talk about this very question. Be sure to check those out. Also, they will give you a chance to ask questions at the end. Be sure to have some prepared! It shows that you are interested and that you are. Never say that you don’t have any questions. Do some research and think of ones that are specific to Andover or whatever other schools you may be applying too. Good luck!!!
Thank you so much!
Opinion needed! We will be up thee this summer-- thought about requesting interview while staying in NE but should we wait to schedule interview in the fall? Some earlier CC poster said they though it wasn’t a full-time AO at PA last summer-- is this true?
Not to sound harsh, but I would strongly recommend against preparing answers. AO’s like it when kids are genuine in their interviews. Don’t sound like you’ve played this over in your head before: just act naturally and talk in a relaxed manor. I actually found all 9 interviews that I did to be FUN. Honestly just act as if you’re talking to an old friend, but be a bit more polite.
Totally agree @“Nico.campbell” I found in my interviews that it was good to have a general idea of what I wanted to say, but to not have an answer prepared. For example, what are your favorite subjects? I knew I wanted to say English and history and that I was interested in humanities. But again, it is really just a conversation, so the words will come when you need them. Don’t over prepare and let Hingis be natural.
Check with admissions. Recently they started doing interviews in August, so there would an AO available at those times.
