Philosophy - Chance me for UCLA & UCB (or UCI & UCSB)

I am a transfer student from a California Community College with Philosophy as my intended major.

Overall GPA - 3.72
IGETC - Finished by Spring
Extracurricular Activities - Stuff from high school; school band, yearbook editor, etc.
Volunteer - Abysmal
Personal Statement - Last Minute Draft (Nov. 30)
No TAG

Major Prerequisites -
INTRO TO PHIL = A (prior to Fall semester)
ETHICS = A (Winter semester)
SYMBOLIC LOGIC = IP (Currently taking in Spring)
DEDUCTIVE LOGIC = IP (Currently taking in Spring)

2 Questions!

  1. Will taking the last prerequisites during Spring affect the admission decision as opposed to finishing it by Fall for a letter grade?

Other than that, How fucked am I?

Pretty good chance for UCLA (higher than average GPA, IGETC, and all prereqs completed), good chance for Berkeley (yes, even if you have none of the prereqs completed - few philos majors have them done). You’ll probably get into UCI and UCSB, but I know the prerequisites are iffy for those schools (I applied to all of the schools you mentioned, as a philosophy major - along with UCD). So who knows, really. I think you’ll get into UCLA, though.

  1. Taking the prereqs by the end of the Spring is fine. Was the ethics course taken this winter, or a previous winter? If it’s this winter, it may not be taken into consideration. That’s still fine, though.
  2. You have good chances.

Thank you for your response Nietzsche. Not too many phil majors here…
