UC Transfer In Philosophy

Hello, I am new to CC and was trying to either transfer to Cal, Irvine, UCLA or USC as a philosophy major. Not really worried about jobs after I graduate because my overall goal is to enroll in law school. At cal it says no courses articulated and the course that's a pre req hasn't been offered since Fall 2010 and I have completed pre reqs for the other schools. i was wondering how it would affect me if i applied to Cal with no pre req...by the way my gpa is 3.69 (a C in bio brought me down) and a few EC. Thanks for any feedback =)

Hello
I’m transferring to UC Berkeley as a Philosophy major in the Spring 2012 as I’m a Spring admit and I’m really glad to help you! I found your situation very similar to mine last year. I was also worried about not completing major pre-reqs as they were not offered at my ccc. However, even without completing any major pre-reqs I still got admitted to Cal with a GPA of 3.63. I also got admitted to UCLA even though I got a “C” in one of my major req classes (logic class). You should have a good chance of getting into Cal and UCLA if you can maintain the same gpa! For Cal, you will most likely get admitted as a Spring admit, as they usually admit Philosophy majors for Spring semester. I don’t think you should worry too much. You have good chances of getting into Cal and UCLA!

Hope to see you at Cal next year! :)

Thanks for the reply! where there any things that made you stand out as a candidate i.e. EC

are you hispanic? you’ll probably get in. the only ec you need is the fact that you’re not white or asian. there’s a story of an illegal alien that got caught shop lifting when he was a teen and now, he’s going to a nice university. even the most ****ed up people can go to great schools :)
