Hey guys, I was recently admitted to Williams RD and am most likely going to attend.
Just a quick question about phone service/carriers:
Which carrier gets the best service on and around the Williams campus? I currently have Verizon, which works wonderfully in my area (about an hour from Williams) and was wondering if Verizon or AT&T or T-Mobile, etc worked the best at Williams?
My family and I are thinking of switching over to AT&T to get iPhones, but AT&T has bad service in my area.

hey guys, verizon works everywhere on campus and in town. other services have partial coverage at various places. verizon is your best bet. i think at&t is decent too but don’t know from personal experience.

@ HorseRadish: LOL! Williamstown is probably one of the most downright gorgeous places I’ve ever been to, and would love to spend four years there. Williams’s aid package will be important, but I’m leaning towards Williams (my decision is Cornell vs. Williams).

Verizon seems to be good, but an iPhone would be AMAZING to have for college!
So if AT&T works well, I should probably get it.
We’ll see.
First I have to decide where I’m going to college (hopefully Williams).

AHhhhhhh I’m so excited that I got in! I never in my wildest dreams thought I would.

I used to have Verizon and it worked well. I traded it in for an iPhone and AT&T, and that works equally well in Williamstown. There seems to be a blackout area for AT&T between Williamstown and Pittsfield, but you probably won’t be going there. Between Williamstown and Albany both Verizon and At&T have blackout areas, with Verizon being slightly better.

I’m thinking that an iPhone might be a good option. Though Verizon has the Storm? Which is better, in your opinion? (Sorry for all the questions, college is confusing!)

Go with anything BUT T-mobile, it DOES NOT work on campus. It was horrible. I was disconnected for an entire four days in a state thousands of miles from home. Definitely do not go with T-mobile. It didn’t work until we were back in New York. I heard from the rest of the visiting pre-frosh that Verizon was amazing though.
