Photo for Duke App?

Some of my schools requested photos and some did not....and they often write that you can send an optional photo in small print somewhere, I nearly missed it on 1 app.

But for Duke.....no photo, correct?

Or was it optional?

Thanks!

Which schools have you applied to that request photos? I don’t think Duke requests any photo.

duke definitely does not request a photo. What kind of school requests photos… literally the only information gained from that is what a student looks like which shouldn’t influence the process

pomona does, totally reputable and ethically grounded school.

brown did until a few years ago.

Rice does as well. But Duke definitely did not

Penguin, did Rice ask for an additional personal photo, or just that one we could upload in the little tiny “whatever appeals to you” box?

Rice does not require a personal photo. To be honest, putting a photo of yourself in the box is quite unoriginal, and it will look narcissistic. You are supposed to put something that appeals to you, whatever that is. Duke doesn’t require any personal photo. I spent a year at Rice before coming here (both are awesome schools; I didn’t leave Rice because I didn’t like it but for program reasons) and volunteered in the admissions office there, so I know that they don’t require any personal photo.

i didn’t upload a photo of myself on that little box on the rice app…i was just asking if they wanted a personal photo in addition to whatever we uploaded there. i would never consider putting a photo of myself inside the “put something that appeals to you” box.

what program were you in that led you to transfer?

Environmental Science. Duke has an entire School of the Environment.
