Photorealistic Paintings

Hi, I have two photorealistic oil paintings, and I was wondering if colleges care for them?
I know many people who don't consider photorealism real art.
Every portfolio i've seen has their own style.
My paintings aren't necessarily artistic, in that they dont have a theme. Would that count against me? One is a portrait, and the other is a sandwich.

If you want to see the paintings, i'll send you a link.

Photorealistic paintings as in oil paintings that look like photographs? Why wouldn’t people view them as real art? How wouldn’t they be artistic?

I’ve heard people say that because it doesn’t have meaning, idk and it just had me worried. and my style is slowww so i dont have a diverse portfolio, so that could hurt me. and my paintings are painted from photographs which are also not preferred.

Photorealism is definitely real art and artistic, imo. Photography is art, so photorealistic paintings must also be art.

I support that, I just wasn’t sure if its a wide consensus.

Those are really excellent. I’m impressed. I think adding some drawings would be good to show diversity in your artwork and skills. Then again, I’m no art expert and have no knowledge/experience with art program admissions. Just offering my opinion, haha.

Thank you! I spent my entire spring break (probably 10 hours of sleep the entire week) last year to finish the sandwich on time for an art show.

I think your work looks good. Of course it’s art.

Here is a classical realism drawing/painting school that would appreciate your art, if you’re concerned:

Florence Academy of Art:
[Florence Academy of Art, School of fine arts Italy](http://www.florenceacademyofart.com/)

wow the work at that school looks amazing. too bad its in Italy :(. a little too far for me.

There are a number of classical realism art schools in the United States. They are not universities, but they will teach you how to draw exactly what you see. Once you can do that, you can draw/paint anything! Here is a similar school in New York:

Grand Central
[Grand Central Academy of Art](http://www.grandcentralacademy.org/)

Wow those are great! I hope one day I can get to their level

Well, you probably could there, since they draw and paint 12 hours a day there, nothing else. 18 year olds can and do those drawings, if they study hard.
