Background: I got a 4 on the AP Physics C: Mechanics Exam. so I brought credit for PSY2048/L with me to UF.
I made my graduation plan with my advisor almost a year ago and she told me to just take the second half of physics over summer 2020. I decided to look today and noticed that she put PHY2054/L on my plan. Is it even possible to take PHY2054/L with a previous PHY2048/L credit? I am a Biology major so calc based physics is not a requirement. Would I have to take PHY2053/L beforehand?
Yes, you can take a class, even if you have “AP” credit for it. At the end of the day, your AP credit is really going toward PHY2053/L, which allows you to take the next class in the sequence, PHY2054/L.
You would have had ended up taking the same call (PHY2054), if you had only scored a 3. The extra credit for “PHY2048/L” still counts, but doesn’t really have any impact on your graduation.
You could also take “PHY 2049/PHY 2049L”, instead of the easier PHY2054. However, your major doesn’t require it.
