I have to take physics in order to get into the CoE, I was planning on taking it during a summer semester (it would be my only class), but I've been told to try to take it at a cc... should I?

The only reason I'm having second thoughts about it is because physics seems interesting and maybe even something I'd like to continue studying, but I really have no idea what physics is like in the academic setting...

thoughts? can anybody compare the type of work in physics to anything else? like is there a lot of work with formulas and figuring out which ones to add/use like there is with chem 130 during some parts?

Have you never had a physics class before? I would say either take 160 (honors) or take 140 at a community college.

Yeah, never have taken a class before… why do you recommend honors?

Because all those intro classes are at best taught equally as well as at a community college, but for 5x the price, and usually are substantially worse. The honors classes are a lot better but 160 would be difficult unless you are really interested in Physics.

Let’s say that I take it at a cc and I really like it and would like to learn more at U of M… would I be at a disadvantage going into the higher level courses?

It depends on the class and the teacher. Are you going to WCC?

I was thinking about taking it at henry ford community college in dearborn since it’s close to my parent’s where I’ll hopefully be staying over the summer

hm physics 160 has computer programming homework assignments now. iirc they’re due nearly every week
