I was wondering if the P.E. classes at Cornell were something more exciting than the average high school, play-basketball-fool! classes.

Furthermore, are students required to take public showers after attending these classes? I have a problem with that--I'm EXTREMELY modest. Maybe too modest. Having to wear swimming trunks at the swim test will be hard enough.

What classes at Cornell require attendance? I have always looked forward to the idea that I didn't have to be present if I could pass the class. I also looked forward to no homework in college? I ask this question because I read that students are allowed three absences in the 12-week course in P.E.

If I wanted to take PE the first semester, would I be able to fit in 5 other courses aside from that? Like I have 4 courses + the writing course already picked out, so would I be able to take PE that first semester too?

You should be able to do that, but 5 courses will probably be a lot of work, unless they are courses that you are choosing not to take AP credit for and you already know the material. I think most people do 3 + the writing seminar to do 4 courses. That is what I did and I found it to be the right amount of work, however I had no prior (AP) experience in any of the courses I took which may have made it a bit harder. But yes, you could certainly do 5 courses plus PE, but you might find out that you have less free time than you want.

The courses that I want to take aren't any that I've had AP credit in, although one of them, Intro to Western Civ, is something that I know a lot about. I'm a huge history dork and have already taken honors global history and spend waaaay too much time reading any sort of history from Antiquity onwards. Do you think that'll be all right then?

I guess I'll look over my schedule plan when it comes time to actually register. I may not even be able to do all the courses that I picked out, so I guess I'll see how it goes.
