Physical Science Scholars, Unite!

Name Possible Major
Almighty God Physics, Computer Science

My sister was selected as a physical science scholar. She’s still waiting to hear back from seven or so schools, so I’m not sure she’s going to end up at Brandeis, but it’s definitely a possibility. She’s planning on a double major in chemistry and music.

Are the Physical Science Scholars the same as Life Science Scholars?

10 Physical Science Scholars are supposed to major Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science or Biological Physics. They get special USEM in first year, and receive $4000 stipend twice for research with faculty in summer of sophomore and junior year. And they receive credits for this. I guess life science scholars are also similar.

No, the Life Science Scholar program is separate from the Physical Science Scholars.

My D is one of the first LSS students (currently a sophomore). I have no personal knowledge of the Physical SS program, but it sounds like they have copied the framework over into other departments.

LSS is the same setup as the PSS program mentioned in the post immediately above. The LSS scholars in the class of 2011 (the first set) have $5000 summer stipends. I do not know what the subsequent years receive.

The coming summer is the first one where the research program will be active. In addition to the lab research, there is an additional seminar program running as well.
